Mammography Technologist

Job Summary: Kaiser Permanente is seeking a skilled Mammography Technologist to join our team at Capitol Hill Medical Center. As a Mammography Technologist, you will be responsible for operating mammographic equipment to take x-ray exposures of patients, processing film, and inspecting images to confirm that they meet the requirements of radiologists.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greets patients and explains the mammographic procedure to them.
- Reviews patients' medical history prior to performing the mammographic procedure and confirms that they have signed a contrast media consent form if needed.
- Takes x-ray exposures of patients following the protocol for intensity of radiation and time of exposure.
- Processes film and inspects images to confirm that they meet the requirements of radiologists.
- Maintains equipment and examination rooms, stores film, and keeps inventory of related supplies.
- Prepares patient files showing information such as patients' names, dates of x-ray, referring physicians, and number of exposures.
- Prepares and submits reports as required by state and federal regulations.
- Performs other related duties as directed.
Requirements:
- Minimum one (1) year of experience as a Mammography Technologist, including on-the-job training and internships, or registry-eligible ARRT advanced certification in Mammography (must be obtained within six (6) months of hire) with a minimum of one (1) year of recent experience as a Radiological technologist with ARRT.
- Specialized training in mammographic technology is required.
- Radiologic Technologist Certification, Basic Life Support, and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Mammography Technologist are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a mammographic technologist with the ARRT is preferred.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) education is preferred.
Work Environment: This position is located at Capitol Hill Medical Center and requires a 1-day workweek with a call-in/on-call schedule. The employee will be required to travel 10% of the time.
