Overview:

This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the scientific foundations and technical aspects of laboratory diagnostics and result analysis, along with proficiency in pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical processes. The professional is adept at executing and interpreting a range of testing complexities and is skilled in performing routine blood draws across diverse patient demographics.

Key Responsibilities:

Adheres to established protocols: demonstrates proficiency in evaluating specimen acceptability, communicates essential specimen collection and transport guidelines, and addresses specimen rejection issues with relevant personnel, ensuring accurate documentation throughout the analytical workflow. Leverages available technologies for data management and retrieval in daily operations, following established procedures. Conducts, interprets, and reports laboratory tests for which validation has been achieved, demonstrating the ability to correlate clinical symptoms with laboratory findings for timely and precise diagnostics. Organizes and prioritizes tasks to enhance both individual and departmental efficiency, ensuring adherence to established completion timelines. Evaluates quality control metrics, investigates discrepancies according to set criteria, and escalates issues as necessary while documenting all actions taken. Displays proficiency in laboratory equipment operation and maintenance, recognizing when major repairs or replacements are required, and documenting maintenance activities. Identifies and resolves procedural or technical challenges, exercising independent judgment in corrective actions, and ensuring timely communication of issues to supervisory personnel. Provides on-site support to laboratory staff, facilitating the resolution of technical challenges in line with established policies and procedures. Undertakes additional responsibilities as required to fulfill departmental and organizational needs.

Certification Requirements:

Professional Licensure (MLS, MT, CLS) | North Dakota Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice | Required prior to employment commencement Professional Certification (MLS, MT, CLS) | Various Certifying Bodies | Required within 12 months of employment commencement

Additional Information:

North Dakota License is mandatory before starting; provisional license is acceptable. Acceptable certifying organizations include ASCP, AAB, AMT, and NCA (must certify in one). For CLIA compliance, an official transcript and/or diploma must be maintained on file.
