We are seeking a highly skilled Histotechnologist to join our team at West Virginia University Hospital, Inc. As a Histotechnologist, you will play a critical role in preparing and analyzing tissue samples for microscopic examination.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a variety of laboratory procedures, including specimen accessioning, processing, and staining.
- Prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination, including embedding, sectioning, and staining.
- Operate complex laboratory equipment, such as microtomes and slide stainers, to produce high-quality microscopic slides.
- Record and maintain accurate records of laboratory procedures and results.
- Collaborate with other laboratory staff and healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely results.
- Bachelor's degree in Histotechnology or a related field.
- Licensed in the State of WV as a Laboratory Technician within 90 days of employment if performing specimen grossing.
- One (1) year of laboratory experience in histopathology.
- Histotechnologist Certification (HTL).
- Qualification in Immunohistochemistry (QIHC) Certification.
The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, rotating duties and responsibilities as needed. The candidate must be able to work flexible shifts, including early morning and evening shifts.
The successful candidate must follow and adhere to standard operating procedures and policies within the department. A general knowledge of Histology practices and the ability to troubleshoot, multitask, and pay close attention to detail are essential for success in this role.
