Job Summary

As a Histology Technologist at Mon Health, you will play a critical role in preparing tissue samples for microscopic examination by a pathologist. This involves working closely with the pathologist to process tissue removed during surgery and autopsy, using chemical fixation, embedding in paraffin, cutting into thin sections, mounting on slides, and staining with special dyes to reveal cellular details microscopically.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform quality control procedures and routine maintenance according to established policies and procedures.
  • Conduct gross dissection and manage unexpected situations in the Histology Laboratory, such as troubleshooting technical or instrument problems, understanding the underlying health and disease causes of unusual test results, and evaluating new laboratory techniques and procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in biology, chemistry, or a related science field, and completion of a Histotechnologist Program, or Bachelor's Degree in biology, chemistry, or a related science field, and one year of lab-related work experience.
  • West Virginia Lab License as a technologist, and ASCP Histotechnologist (HTL) certification within 12 months of hire or eligibility.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions

Medium Work: Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs with a maximum lifting of 50 lbs.
