We are seeking a highly skilled Histotechnologist to join our team at West Virginia University Hospitals. As a Histotechnologist, you will play a critical role in the preparation and analysis of microscopic slides for diagnostic purposes.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a variety of laboratory procedures, including specimen accessioning, processing, and staining, to produce high-quality microscopic slides.
- Operate complex laboratory equipment, such as microtomes and tissue processors, to prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination.
- Record and maintain accurate records of laboratory procedures and results.
- Collaborate with other laboratory staff and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless communication and efficient workflow.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date with the latest laboratory techniques and technologies.
- Bachelor's degree in Histotechnology or related field.
- Licensed in the State of WV as a Laboratory Technician within 90 days of employment if performing specimen grossing.
- One (1) year of laboratory experience in histopathology.
- Histotechnologist Certification (HTL) and/or Qualification in Immunohistochemistry (QIHC) Certification.
The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, rotating duties and responsibilities as needed. The ability to work flexible shifts, including early morning and evening hours, is required.
