Role Overview

The Global Services Group (GSG) provides an excellent entry point into American Express, allowing you to gain insights and experience in operations and leadership. This includes areas such as customer service, back-office functions, credit and collections, member acquisition, and fraud prevention.

Our Industrial Engineers serve as internal consultants, enhancing our service and operational divisions. Your primary objectives will be to facilitate exceptional customer experiences while optimizing costs through innovative thinking and process improvement initiatives. You will lead and support efforts to gather data, analyze insights, formulate proposals for senior management, and implement enhancements to our systems and processes. This role will expose you to various business units across the organization, collaborating with teams in Technology, Finance, Risk, Operations, Marketing, and more.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you should be:

  • A full-time undergraduate student, ideally in your sophomore or junior year.
  • Capable of clear verbal and written communication with peers and supervisors.
  • Skilled in root cause analysis and quantitative assessment.
  • Familiar with continuous improvement and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Possessing strong interpersonal skills, able to work independently or collaboratively.
  • Results-oriented, with the ability to manage projects from inception to completion.
  • Experienced in driving project implementation across diverse customer groups.
  • Knowledgeable in common Industrial Engineering software (e.g., Excel, SQL).
  • Exposed to various Industrial Engineering concepts, including continuous improvement, project management, and statistical analysis.
