MRI Technologist

As an MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for administering gadolinium contrast intravenously, screening for allergies and contraindications, and positioning patients on examining tables. You will also be responsible for entering data into computers, communicating with patients, and ensuring the quality of images. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining and cleaning work areas and equipment, and adhering to MRI safety guidelines.
Responsibilities:
Administer gadolinium contrast intravenously and screen for allergies and contraindications.
Position patients on examining tables and place coils close to areas of interest.
Enter data into computers, including anatomical areas to be scanned, orientation, and position of entry.
Communicate with patients before and during procedures to monitor safety and comfort.
Key commands to specify MRI scan sequences and adjust parameters and slice positioning.
Alert patients and staff of danger of wearing or carrying metal near the magnet.
View images of areas being scanned on video display screens to ensure quality.
Ensure that patients complete MRI screening forms and review them verbally.
Investigate and clear potential ferromagnetic foreign objects/implants before exposing patients to magnetic fields.
Receive and review orders, coordinate schedules, and prioritize urgent exams.
Maintain and clean work areas and equipment, and replenish supplies as needed.
Adhere to MRI safety guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Control and evaluate safe entry of all persons, objects, supplies, and equipment into the MRI environment.
Ensure all exams are ordered correctly in HIS/RIS and charged and tracked accurately.
Initiate service calls for equipment problems.
Qualifications:
ARRT or ARMRIT certification.
2-3 years of undergraduate education or equivalent.
1-3 years of related work experience.
BLS through American Heart Association.
Preferred:
ARRT (MR) certification.
