Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Primary Care Physician to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a Primary Care Physician, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to our veterans, working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and deliver primary care to outpatients enrolled in your panels.
  • Evaluate and treat acute and chronic health problems for scheduled and unscheduled patients in a clinic setting.
  • Perform histories and physical exams, provide appropriate documentation, and ensure patient encounters are closed out with clear next steps.
  • Prescribe medications as necessary, order routine laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic tests, and provide initial interpretation of results.
  • Communicate test results to patients, respond to questions and inquiries, and initiate or expedite requests for consultations and specialty tests.
  • Provide education to patients and families as needed, order immunizations and preventive or screening services, and screen patients for hospitalization.
  • Perform Basic Life Support as necessary, communicate clinical findings to other providers, and provide clinical oversight and review as a supervising or collaborating physician.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or non-citizen eligible for employment with the federal government.
  • Must have a degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
  • Must have a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Must have completed residency training in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
Work Schedule

Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (subject to change based on agency need).
