Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Poultry Care Specialist to join our team at Michael Foods, Inc. in Wakefield, Nebraska. As a Poultry Care Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of our poultry flock, while also maintaining a safe and efficient production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain poultry houses, ensuring adequate temperature, lighting, feed, and water for the birds.
  • Responsible for disinfecting and maintaining a clean environment within the poultry houses.
  • Operate medication pumps and maintain equipment to ensure optimal bird health.
  • Assist with maintenance tasks as needed, including repairs and replacements of equipment.
  • Monitor and record bird health, including mortality rates and egg production.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and maintenance teams to ensure a safe and efficient production environment.
  • Perform daily tasks, including weighing birds, collecting case weights, and maintaining equipment.

Requirements:

  • No prior experience or training required.
  • Ability to read and write simple sentences.
  • Ability to add and subtract digit numbers.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs. in each hand and carry it for at least 250 feet.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Working Conditions:

The Poultry Care Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to dust, aromatic conditions, and potential allergens. The ability to pass a pulmonary function test and fit test is required.
