Job Summary:
The John Stewart Company is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance and janitorial duties to ensure the upkeep of our multi-family housing properties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine monthly safety hazard and maintenance deficiency inspections to identify and address potential issues.
- Perform electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, masonry, plastering, painting tasks, and janitorial duties as assigned.
- Operate and maintain equipment and systems in accordance with local, state, and national codes.
- Perform timely apartment unit turn-overs and prepare work orders for safety hazards and deficiencies.
- Participate in off-shift and weekend emergency maintenance coverage as scheduled.
- Report physical condition needs of common areas and take corrective action.
- Perform overall upkeep of the grounds, including trash removal, cleaning, and maintenance.
- Creates and implements preventive maintenance schedules.
Requirements:
- Valid California driver's license and reliable, insured, and registered vehicle.
- Basic mathematical skills and fluency in reading, writing, and communication in English.
- A minimum of 3 years of multi-family apartment maintenance experience.
- Knowledge of precautions and safety procedures for working with ACM/LBP in pre-1981 housing.
- Ability to perform maintenance and repair building trades, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC system, appliance repair, painting, drywall, plaster, fire protection system, etc.
- Ability to recognize safety hazards and take precautionary measures to protect self and others.
