Position Overview

This full-time on-site position for a Lead Control Systems Engineer at Ace Controls LLC involves the design, development, and analysis of control systems, instrumentation, and associated equipment. You will play a crucial role in reviewing and interpreting project plans and specifications to ensure all design criteria are fulfilled. You will independently lead and manage the design and drafting of intricate electrical, instrumentation, and control systems with minimal engineering assistance, while also overseeing comprehensive technical construction plans and specifications. This includes, but is not limited to, power distribution, lighting, motor controls, PLC/RTU controls, network architecture/communications, bills of materials, control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and instrument loop and I/O schematic drawings.

Your strong experience with NEC codes and UL508A for sizing circuit breakers, motor starters, and conductors will be vital. You will be responsible for designing wiring diagrams with terminations for complete instrumentation interconnect wiring diagrams, ensuring proper connectivity and functionality, as well as making modifications and upgrades to existing control panels. This role requires coordination with the design team to ensure all project aspects are addressed, and that final designs comply with industry standards and regulations.

  • Participate in project meetings with contractors and customers
  • Maintain project material and labor costs within budget
  • Estimate scope, pricing updates, and change orders
  • Understanding of P&ID drawings
  • Ability to create I/O lists and PLC diagrams
  • Experienced in sizing power circuits for motor controls
  • Knowledge of selecting and programming variable frequency drives and reduced voltage soft starters
  • Familiarity with various process instruments for monitoring pressure, level, and flow
  • Component selection for bills of materials
  • Experience in PLC and HMI programming
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is a plus
