Position Summary: The Lead Facilities Operations Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective functioning of the facility's utility systems, which encompass water, gas, electricity, and other energy sources. This leadership position entails overseeing the maintenance, repair, and enhancement of these systems to guarantee they operate efficiently and sustainably. The Manager will lead a dedicated team responsible for selecting and maintaining all facility and manufacturing equipment, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of workplace safety and product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise all major building and engineering systems (including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, specialized piping, boilers, pneumatics, HVAC, and water systems) in compliance with relevant regulations to ensure safe and cost-effective facilities.
  • Develop and manage budgets for utility operations, including forecasting future requirements and controlling expenses to maintain financial efficiency.
  • Negotiate and oversee contracts with utility service providers, vendors, and contractors to secure advantageous terms and ensure quality service delivery.
  • Establish safety protocols and emergency response plans for utility systems to safeguard public health and safety.
  • Lead and develop utility staff, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation, to cultivate a skilled and effective workforce.
  • Plan and manage infrastructure projects, such as the installation of new utility lines or upgrades to existing systems, to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee space planning and management, including office renovations and installations of facilities assets and equipment.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in asset management, reliability, building infrastructure, energy management, and environmental sustainability systems.
  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors providing services, including skilled trades, general maintenance personnel, or external contractors, to ensure operational objectives are met.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of operations management experience, with significant expertise in engineering and maintenance of manufacturing facilities.
  • At least 7 years of progressive responsibility in managing and leading teams, with a proven track record in developing talent.
  • Experience in energy-saving initiatives or clean energy projects.
  • Proficient in the operation and maintenance of HVAC systems, generators, electrical distribution systems, fire protection systems, and project management.
  • Strong knowledge of health, OSHA, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of interacting with all organizational levels and external vendors.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a knack for independently identifying and implementing effective solutions.
  • Ability to read and interpret various documents, including operating reports, financial statements, safety regulations, and maintenance instructions.
