Role Summary: This position is designed to deliver clinical services to individuals within the substance use treatment program. The Clinician I operates as an unlicensed clinical practitioner, working under direct supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide diagnostic evaluations and therapeutic interventions to clients engaged in substance use treatment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver client care with minimal direct oversight for a low-acuity caseload.
  • Facilitate individual, family, and group therapy sessions.
  • Conduct screenings, intakes, assessments, and develop treatment plans.
  • Document clinical interactions promptly with advanced competency.
  • Formulate and execute treatment strategies under direct supervision.
  • Engage clients effectively to ensure timely achievement of goals and successful transitions.
  • Oversee basic direct care services in community settings, ensuring client access to wrap-around care.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings.
  • Assist clients in accessing medical, social, educational, vocational, housing, and financial services.
  • Support clients in utilizing their support networks.
  • Collaborate with partner agencies to facilitate service access and maintain informed client care.
  • Contribute meaningful insights during staff meetings as required.
  • Manage basic issues and crisis situations under direct supervision.
  • Handle client communications and requests under general supervision.
  • Provide data for program outcome reporting upon request.
  • Attend foundational training sessions and teach basic skills in individual or group formats.
  • Complete client referrals for personal caseload.
  • Adhere to all program policies and procedures.
  • Additional duties may be assigned based on agency and program needs.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact effectively with clients, staff, and other professionals.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Capability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
  • Able to transition between sitting and standing as needed.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours.
  • Commitment to obtaining Apprentice Addiction Professional certification within 180 days of hire.
  • Dedication to the mission of promoting wellness through inclusive and compassionate care.

Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, criminal justice, or a related field is required; Master's degree is preferred.
  • Familiarity with DSM-5, counseling practices, substance abuse treatment, and relevant regulations.
  • Experience providing direct support and therapeutic services to clients with substance use and mental health challenges.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and language.
  • Proven ability to develop clinical recommendations that respect client preferences.
  • Strong skills in building therapeutic rapport while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Proficiency in timely documentation and client chart management.
