The Senior Accounting Manager plays a crucial role in providing continuous support and collaboration with leadership to manage the daily functions of the accounting division, as well as spearheading departmental initiatives and overseeing assigned accounting personnel.

  • Oversee the accounting division's general ledger activities, which encompass journal entry assessments, account reconciliation evaluations, account setups, and a comprehensive understanding of all reconciliations conducted across the organization. Responsible for the validation and authorization of prepaid expenses and accruals, management of contractual obligations, and maintaining the bank's equity investments.
  • Engage in the training and development of accounting personnel to align with departmental and organizational objectives. Offer guidance and support in analyzing and resolving discrepancies.
  • Maintain proficiency in the various software utilized by the bank and represent the accounting division during periodic reviews and updates.
  • Lead the planning, preparation, and data gathering for both internal and external audits. Contribute to the preparation and accurate presentation of financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Serve as the primary contact for data collection and communication with external tax professionals, participate in the review of the annual tax filings, federal and state quarterly tax obligations, and prepare and record necessary adjusting journal entries. Assist management in adhering to all tax and accounting regulations while ensuring compliance with record-keeping and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate in the development, management, and execution of designated accounting projects.
  • Support the oversight of internal controls, accounting processes, and data management. Document, review, and complete periodic updates of accounting policies, practices, and procedures. Through effective collaboration, guide and assist other departments by clearly communicating current accounting policies and procedures, as well as drafting and disseminating new procedures and policies as necessitated by best practices and regulatory changes.
  • Participate in the finance and accounting team's initiatives to support organization-wide staff onboarding to finance group-owned platforms and further training to embed sound financial and budgeting practices throughout the organization. Provide guidance and support to other departments during the annual budgeting process.
  • Engage in research and implementation related to recent accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of extensive finance and accounting experience within the banking sector, including 3+ years of managerial experience overseeing finance and accounting professionals at various levels; adept at leveraging the strengths of existing finance and accounting staff, clarifying and enhancing roles and responsibilities, and developing and implementing training programs to maximize individual and organizational performance. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively conveying key data in a user-friendly and concise manner to individuals with varying levels of financial expertise, including presentations to senior management.
  • A bachelor's degree in finance or accounting is required; a master's degree is preferred.
  • An active CPA designation is mandatory.
