Job Summary:

Under the administrative direction of the Director of Radiology and the clinical direction of the Radiologist, this Diagnostic Medical Sonographer will independently perform ultrasound procedures with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cross-sectional anatomy, pathology, and physiological data to obtain optimal studies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate ultrasound equipment to include abdominal, obstetrics/gynecologic, vascular, superficial, endocavity, and echocardiography, as qualified.
  • Review medical records for patient history and pertinent clinical information.
  • Establish and record preliminary results to aid Radiologist/Physician interpretation.
  • Perform quality control procedures on imaging and ancillary equipment to ensure compliance with Federal and Joint Commission standards of care.
  • Organize daily work schedules and respond to emergencies as necessary.
  • Demonstrate competency in the use of Radiology Information System, Hospital Information System, and other computer systems unique to assigned imaging modality.
  • Perform filing and other administrative/clerical procedures to support diagnostic services in the department.
  • Interact professionally with patients, colleagues, and other co-workers to effectively complete daily tasks.
  • Participate in continuing education activities as required by imaging modality.
  • Participate in the Performance Improvement Program as required for imaging modality.
  • Perform on-call duties and/or work variable shifts as assigned to meet department needs.
  • Maintain supply inventory and order supplies as necessary.
  • Work as a member of the Radiology team to reinforce a culture of safety in the Radiology Department and organization wide.
  • Maintain confidentiality of medical information.
Requirements:
  • Certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or registry eligible.
  • Maintain current CPR certification.
