About the Role

Nemours Children's Health is seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Specialist I to join our team in Orlando, Florida. As a key member of our Patient Financial Services department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our patients and families, ensuring accurate and timely registration processes, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify and update patient demographics, insurance information, and financial responsibility in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Collect patient responsibility amounts due for services rendered, adhering to end-of-day business processing standards.
  • Properly identify patients, accurately update demographics information, and secure required forms to ensure compliance with regulatory and NCH policies.
  • Register bedside admissions utilizing the workstation on wheels or downtime process when necessary, or perform pre-registration workflow when assigned.
  • Focus on back-end pre-work, pre-registration of accounts, patient responsibility population, and updating patient demographics.
  • Understand HIPAA privacy rules and use discretion when discussing patient-related information that is confidential in nature.
  • Resolve patient accounts subject to departmental standards, including clearing workqueues as assigned, to ensure accuracy.
  • Cross-cover registration functions to support the Patient Financial Services department as needed.
  • Practice and display Nemours' Standards of Behavior while adhering to all rules and regulations of local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with clinical partners to ensure open communication between clinical, ancillary, and patient access departments.
  • Complete all mandatory training and education in a timely manner, participate in huddles and/or department meetings as scheduled, and meet attendance requirements.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Healthcare experience and customer service experience preferred.
  • Medical Office/Call Center experience.
  • Travel to other locations required.
