Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Power Engineer or Engineer III to join our team at Duke Energy. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of complex problems in power engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of complex problems in power engineering.
  • Contribute to team decision-making in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities.
  • Deal with changing priorities and differing situations and make decisions that may affect the work of the team.
  • Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches related to well-defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexity.
  • Conduct engineering and related studies.
  • Complete routine engineering projects with minimal oversight with increasing ability to independently manage project schedules and interfaces.
  • Develop positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maintain accurate records and files.
  • Support the company's goals and represent the company positively and professionally.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or PE.
  • A Master's degree in Engineering will be considered.
  • Minimum of 4 years of job-related experience for Engineer III and 6 years for Senior Engineer.
  • Experience in the utility industry with an emphasis in Power Engineering.
  • Previous experience with state estimation and contingency analysis.
  • Previous experience with PSSE models and powerflows.
  • Previous experience with GE EMS or DMS.
Working Conditions

This is a hybrid position, requiring work from both remote and onsite locations. The employee should live within a reasonable commute to the designated Duke Energy facility. Participate in 24x7 callout rotation.

This position requires a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program. A Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree.

Travel requirements are 5-15%.
