Electronics Technician 3 Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electronics Technician 3 to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit at M.C. Dean. As part of our team, you will be responsible for designing, engineering, integrating, operating, and maintaining electronic security services for federal, local, and commercial customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead teams on small to moderately complex installation projects.
  • Conduct and document daily tool box talks.
  • Install head end equipment at both local and global levels per design packages.
  • Program head end equipment for Access Control, Intrusion Detection, and CCTV systems.
  • Troubleshoot and isolate systems and/or hardware at both local and global levels.
  • Provide on-site software commissioning and testing.
  • Perform inspections, evaluations, and inventory.
  • Build relationships and execute design plans for large and recognizable customers.
  • Lead and mentor teams through technical design process from pre-award to testing and commissioning.
Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license.
  • 8+ years of electronics installation and/or maintenance activities on multiple systems and with multiple customer programs.
  • 3+ years of experience in electronic security systems.
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated time management and organization skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives.

Physical Abilities/Requirements:

  • Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period.
  • Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.

What You'll Do:

  • Leading teams on small to moderately complex installation projects.
  • Conducting and documenting daily tool box talks.
  • Installing all head end equipment at both the local and global level per design packages.
  • Programming head end equipment for Access Control, Intrusion Detection, and CCTV systems.
  • Troubleshooting and isolating both systems and/or hardware at both a local and global level.
  • Providing on-site software commissioning and testing.
  • Performing inspections, evaluations, and inventory.
  • Build relationships and execute design plans for the world's largest and most recognizable customers.
  • Lead and mentor a team through the technical design process from pre-award through testing and commissioning to include:
  • Requirements analysis, cost assemblies, customer proposals, design analysis, site surveys, modular design, systems design, programming and configuration, testing and commissioning.
  • Partner with senior leadership to capitalize on existing customer opportunities and develop plans for future customer opportunities, establishing priorities and financial goals.
  • Conduct technical presentations to customers and senior leadership.
  • Build teams of great people with deep expertise, promoting two-way communication and feedback regarding individual or team performance, workload, and career development.
  • Partner with your manager to tailor your career path towards your vision.

Position / Candidate Requirements:

  • Requires a Valid driver's license
  • This position may require ongoing or intermittent use of a company vehicle. Selected candidates must possess an acceptable driving record in accordance to our policy.
  • Education:
  • HS diploma or GED
  • Military Electronics Training (minimum 720 classroom hours) or
  • Graduation from an accredited Electronics Technician program or
  • Graduation from an Electrical Apprenticeship program or
  • An additional three (3) years of electronics installation and/or maintenance activities

Required Progressive Experience:

  • 8+ years of electronics installation and/or maintenance activities on multiple systems and with multiple customer programs
  • 3+ years of the above experience must be focused in electronic security systems
  • Strong Oral, Written and Presentation Skills.
  • Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated time management and organization skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives.
  • Strong MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint Skills is a plus.
  • This position may require travel
  • Available to work a flexible schedule nights and weekends

Desired / Advantageous Qualifications

  • Vendor certifications in multiple IDS, ACS, and CCTV systems
  • Identiv/Hirsch Velocity, Bosch Radionics, Bosch IDS/VMS, Lenel, Aiphone Intercom Systems, CCURE, Genetec, Windows operating systems & certifications and experience in installation of said systems.

  • May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
