About the Position

The University of Wisconsin-Madison's Division of Extension is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Bilingual Community Resource Educator to join our team. As a key member of our Community Resource Navigator Program, you will play a vital role in supporting students as they work alongside patients with health-harming social needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Orient students to the Resource Navigator Program, screening process, and client documentation and communication
  • Train students on conducting intakes, sharing resources, client follow-up, and other essential skills
  • Review all student communication and documentation
  • Provide instruction on navigating community resources in the Legal Studies course, LS 473-Impacts of Social and Legal Issues on Health
  • Meet with student navigators to provide feedback and support as needed
  • Maintain regular updates of program resource referrals and communicate relevant updates to students
  • Manage ongoing navigator shifts
  • Provide necessary follow-up and support to complex cases and any case during student breaks and transitions
  • Foster partnerships and referral pathways with health, legal, and social service professionals in Dane County

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • At least 2 years of experience providing culturally responsive health, legal, and/or social justice support services to marginalized communities
  • At least 2 years of experience providing educational content in a teaching or training setting
  • Spanish and English speaking, writing, and comprehension skills; knowledge and understanding of Hispanic culture
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and execute outreach activities and collaborate with community organizations
  • Commitment to and appreciation of working with diverse groups of individuals
