Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Arborist to join our team in Abilene, TX. As an Arborist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of electric utility lines.

Salary:

The salary for this position starts at $18.18 per hour.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, inspecting, and evaluating vegetation along utility lines, submitting inspection results to clients with recommendations, planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of assigned clearance crews, discussing and negotiating line-clearance crew access issues, serving as a liaison between clients, work crews, and client customers, performing real-time crew checks, getting estimates, building schedules, and setting up work for contractors.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A 2 or 4-year degree in Rangeland Management, Forestry, Horticulture, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a closely related field.
  • Or 2 years of experience in Utility Vegetation Management or other related fields (e.g., general Right-of-Way management, Integrated Vegetation Management, nursery work, or timber cutting).
  • Vegetation management experience is preferred.
  • Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working with GIS-integrated data collection software/hardware is preferred but not required.
  • Self-motivated, organized, production-oriented.
  • Comfortable working in an independent environment and managing a geographical area for all vegetation-related activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Multitasking and strong time management skills.
  • Ability to work in varied terrain and inclement weather with flexible schedules (available nights and weekends as needed).
  • Able to hike lengthy periods of time to access lines throughout the region.
  • Valid driver's license required and must be able to drive long distances in a company vehicle.
