Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Utility Arborist - Rangeland Management Specialist to join our team in Abilene, TX and adjacent areas.

Salary

The estimated annual salary for this position is approximately $37,664 based on a 20-hour workweek at $18.18 per hour.

Job Description

Our Utility Arborist will perform identification, inspection, and evaluation of vegetation and brush along utility lines, submit inspection results to clients with recommendations, plan, direct, and coordinate the activities of assigned clearance crews, discuss and negotiate line-clearance crew access issues, serve as a liaison between clients, work crews, and client customers, perform real-time crew checks, get estimates, build schedules, and set up work for contractors.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A 2 or 4-year degree in Rangeland Management, Forestry, Horticulture, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a closely related field; OR in lieu of a degree, 2 years of experience in Utility Vegetation Management or other related fields (e.g., general Right-of-Way management, Integrated Vegetation Management, nursery work, or timber cutting).
  • Vegetation management experience preferred.
  • Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working with GIS-integrated data collection software/hardware preferred but not required.
  • Self-motivated, organized, production-oriented individual.
  • Comfortable working in an independent environment and managing a geographical area for all vegetation-related activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work with stakeholders, utility customers, and line clearance vendors.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Multitasking and strong time management skills required.
  • Ability to work in varied terrain and inclement weather with flexible schedules (available nights and weekends as needed).
  • Able to hike lengthy periods of time to access lines throughout the region.
  • Valid driver's license required and must be able to drive long distances in a company vehicle.
