About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Service Manager 1 to join our team at the State of Iowa. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading and managing human resources functions, providing strategic guidance, and driving operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Strategic Guidance: Provide leadership and strategic guidance to the Iowa School for the Deaf and Iowa Educational Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and goals.
  • Human Resources Management: Oversee all human resources functions, including recruitment and selection, classification and compensation, policies and procedures, leave management, employee orientation and communications, investigations, and corrective disciplinary action.
  • Collaboration and Consultation: Collaborate with other HR professionals to ensure compliance with state and federal laws, as well as organizational policies and procedures.
  • Employee Engagement and Support: Provide information and support to employees on human resources and employee benefits, addressing questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Meet one of the following minimum requirements: graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and experience equal to four years of full-time work in program administration, development, management, or operations; eight years of full-time work experience in program administration, development, management, or operations; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Skills and Qualifications: Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, including developed interpersonal skills; knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to human resources; and experience working with individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, or visually impaired.
