Position Overview

Role Summary

The Medical Assistant is integral to fulfilling the mission of Planned Parenthood of Tennessee and North Mississippi by delivering outstanding healthcare services to our patients. Responsibilities include conducting patient evaluations, providing education, performing venipuncture, executing laboratory tasks, ensuring instrument sterilization, preparing procedure rooms, documenting medical records, and offering Front Office Support. Our Medical Assistants are empowered to utilize their training and certification, often working independently with patients.

Daily Schedule

The workday commences with a morning huddle and typically concludes in the early evening. Full-time Medical Assistants are scheduled for four or five days within a standard Monday to Friday workweek.

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly Wage: The starting hourly wage for this role ranges from $20 - $25, contingent upon certification and experience. Employees receive recognition for ongoing education and contributions during annual performance evaluations.

Work-Life Balance:

Full-time employees accrue generous paid time off, accumulating 15 days in the first year and 18 days in the second year. There are 10 paid holidays and two floating holidays. After one year of service, employees are eligible for a fully paid 8-week parental leave program, allowing them to spend quality time with family.

In this role, you will work under the guidance of the health center supervisor and alongside our dedicated clinicians. You will be part of a committed team focused on ensuring a nonjudgmental, unbiased, and safe environment for our patients.

Qualifications for Success

Ideal candidates will be certified medical assistants or have completed an accredited medical assistant/healthcare assistant program or possess an associate's degree. They should have relevant experience in a clinical healthcare setting, demonstrating a strong commitment to high-quality healthcare delivery and exceptional customer service. Confidence and competence in patient care and handling of personal health information are essential.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement:

As a healthcare provider and participant in Medicare/Medicaid, Planned Parenthood is required to ensure that its workforce is fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and its variants. Candidates must provide proof of vaccination by their start date, with reasonable accommodations considered on a case-by-case basis.
