Key Responsibilities
  • Instructional Strategies
    • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the district's curriculum program and demonstrate a clear understanding of the learning styles and needs of students.
    • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology to support student learning.
    • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
    • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students.
  • Student Growth and Development
    • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
    • Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
    • Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district.
  • Classroom Management and Organization
    • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
    • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
    • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Communication
    • Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
  • Professional Growth and Development
    • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
    • Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
    • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Additional Duties
    • Perform any and all other duties as assigned by your immediate supervisor.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned.
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
  • One-year student teaching or approved internship preferred.
Working Conditions

The Physical Education Teacher will work in a fast-paced educational environment with frequent interactions with students, parents, and colleagues. The position requires prolonged standing, frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds) may be required. The position also requires regular exposure to noise and the ability to work in a variety of environments, including inside and outside the classroom.
