The Special Needs Support Technician plays a vital role in delivering educational and behavioral assistance to children and adults with unique requirements. This position involves collaboration with educational professionals and behavioral experts to meet individual learning and behavioral objectives.
This role is designed for those who have experience working with diverse age groups and prefer a background in educational settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to directives from the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), educators, and program supervisors.
- Implement behavior management strategies, including prevention, intervention, and consequence techniques.
- Provide crisis intervention as necessary.
- Review and execute behavior intervention plans effectively.
- Support the achievement of behavioral and ABA goals outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Assist in the facilitation of academic instruction under the guidance of instructors.
- Contribute to the development plans of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), Occupational Therapy (OT), and Physical Therapy (PT).
- Document sessions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Accurately collect behavioral and academic data.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in all interactions.
- Assist individuals in developing independent daily living skills through self-care activities.
- Support individuals across various environments, including classrooms, playgrounds, and sensory rooms.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Two years of experience working with children preferred.
- Comply with all relevant professional standards.
- Current CPR certification, if applicable.
- Health documentation as required by regulations.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
