Overview
The Janitorial Worker I is responsible for executing essential daily cleaning tasks as outlined by specific contracts at designated locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness of floors through sweeping, dusting, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
- Service and supply restrooms, ensuring toilets, sinks, fixtures, and floors are clean and stocked.
- Collect and dispose of trash, transporting it to the designated disposal area.
- Wash windows and walls to uphold a clean environment.
- Vacuum, spot clean, and shampoo carpets as needed.
- Dust and clean light fixtures and blinds to maintain appearance.
- Manage supply distribution, service high-traffic areas, and perform specialized cleaning tasks.
- Keep janitorial storage areas organized and tidy.
- Ensure a safe working environment by reporting hazards and adhering to safety protocols.
- Follow all instructions for chemical use and operation of cleaning equipment.
- Report malfunctioning equipment to supervisors promptly.
- Provide courteous service to all building occupants.
- Immediately report any accidents to supervisors.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.
- Background check is mandatory.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Familiarity with cleaning agents and janitorial equipment.
- Experience handling chemical cleaning products safely.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
- Proficient in operating standard janitorial equipment.
- Strong organizational skills to follow cleaning schedules effectively.
- Ability to interact professionally with the public.
- Capable of working collaboratively as part of a team.
- Accurate completion and submission of time sheets.
