Roles and Responsibilities:

• Analyze Nessus/ACAS scan results and provide guidance as necessary

• Identify potential, successful, and unsuccessful scan outcomes for effective reporting of compromises through thorough reviews and analyses of relevant event details and summaries

• Assess systems' baseline security status (STE, Health & Status) validated through Xacta and LatteArt record systems

• Review and address liens (POAMS) - continuous assessment

• Collaborate in developing Splunk use case dashboard reporting for security baseline, including weekly system health status updates

• Ensure 100% compliance validation for system scans

• Maintain 98% asset accountability for in-scope systems

• Communicate alerts to agencies regarding intrusions and compromises affecting their network infrastructure, applications, and operating systems

• Assist in implementing countermeasures or mitigating controls

• Conduct regular audits to ensure secure system operations and adherence to information systems security policies and procedures as outlined in security plans

• Develop, test, and manage firewalls, intrusion detection systems, enterprise anti-virus systems, and software deployment tools. Protect the network against unauthorized access, modification, destruction, or disclosure. Respond to inquiries and requests for computer security information and reports

• Investigate computer security violations and incidents, reporting as necessary to management

• Research, evaluate, test, recommend, communicate, and implement new security software or devices

• Implement, enforce, communicate, and develop security policies or plans for data, software applications, hardware, and telecommunications. Create materials for computer security education and awareness programs

• Provide recommendations to clients on information assurance engineering standards, implementation dependencies, and evolving information assurance technologies

• Conduct periodic and on-demand system audits and vulnerability assessments, including user accounts, application access, file system, and external web integrity scans to ensure compliance

• Inform management about the negative impacts on business caused by theft, destruction, alteration, or denial of access to information

• Offer advanced guidance and leadership to less-experienced team members

• May serve as a team or task leader (not a people manager)

• Provide information assurance project management, technical security staff oversight, and development of mission-critical technical documentation

• Ensure compliance with regulations and privacy laws

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must meet contract level requirements for the appropriate position.
  • Additionally, the position requires five (5) years of experience as an ISSO on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Experience must include at least one (1) of the following areas: knowledge of current security tools and hardware/software security implementation; communication protocols; encryption techniques/tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • DoD 8570 compliance with IAT Level I or higher is required.
  • Four (4) years of additional experience as an ISSO may substitute for a Bachelor's degree.
Experience should include:
  • On-call required for 24x7 support - Essential personnel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Leadership skills to guide and mentor less experienced personnel
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to lead and work as part of a team
