Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Chief Financial Officer to join our team at the State of Maryland. As a senior-level financial executive, you will play a critical role in leading our financial operations and providing strategic guidance to our leadership team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction to our financial teams, ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of financial reports and statements.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with our executive leadership team to develop and implement strategic financial plans, aligning with the state's overall goals and objectives.
  • Manage and oversee our financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes, ensuring accurate and reliable financial data.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including state agencies, vendors, and external partners.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on financial matters, ensuring the state's financial interests are protected and optimized.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in financial leadership roles, with a strong background in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Proven track record of success in leading financial teams and developing and implementing financial strategies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in business or a related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation.
  • Experience working in a government or public sector environment.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and laws, including GAAP and GASB.
