About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Curriculum Designer and Writer to join our team at WETA/PBS NewsHour. As a key member of our literacy program, you will play a critical role in developing high-quality, research-based content for our Reading Universe website.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and write online teacher professional content that is engaging, informative, and accessible.
  • Research and stay up-to-date on the latest reading research and best practices to inform content development.
  • Collaborate with our video production team to create high-quality, in-classroom video content.
  • Represent Reading Universe at conferences, meetings, and other events to promote our program and build relationships with partners and experts.
  • Monitor industry trends and developments in literacy education to ensure our content remains relevant and effective.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in education or a related field (e.g. linguistics or speech pathology).
  • Experience in writing and developing literacy curricula, with a focus on teacher professional development.
  • Strong knowledge of reading research and best practices, including structured literacy and the simple view of reading.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences and formats.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
