Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Lab Assistant to support our science department. The successful candidate will have a strong passion for science and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist science department teachers with setup and breakdown of labs and organization of lab equipment and materials
  • Set up laboratory equipment and materials for experiments according to provided instructions
  • Clean laboratory glassware, equipment, and work areas after experiments to maintain cleanliness and safety standards
  • Organize and store laboratory supplies and materials efficiently for easy access and inventory management
  • Order supplies and materials for laboratory experiments and general classroom needs in a timely manner, ensuring adequate stock levels
  • Assist teachers and students during laboratory sessions as needed, providing support and guidance
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, orders, and equipment maintenance activities
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for students and staff
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on laboratory equipment as required
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and vendors regarding supply orders and laboratory needs
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance laboratory efficiency and effectiveness
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field
  • Experience in a high school or middle school setting preferred but not required
  • Understanding and ability to use computers and technology including Google Docs, spreadsheets, and online databases
  • Highly developed organizational skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment, including students, co-workers, and parents
  • Teamwork, dependability, flexibility, willingness to listen and learn, problem-solving skills, and congeniality are essential
  • Must successfully complete background screening and verification
Work Environment

The Lab Assistant will work in a standard office or classroom environment, occasionally working outdoors in varying weather conditions. The position requires the ability to move items up to 30 pounds across the campus and to work in a sometimes stressful environment.
