We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisory Health Scientist to join our team at the Department of Health and Human Services. Key Responsibilities- Serve as a recognized expert on matters involving the nexus of public health, intelligence, and national security.
- Perform as a scientific expert with responsibility for administration of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC's) national security program administration.
- Establish objectives and standards to ensure compliance with national legal and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure operations are maintained and contingences developed to protect Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) and collateral spaces at all CDC locations across the United States.
- Ensure accreditation and compliance with Executive Orders and Intelligence Community Directives for use, storage, and protection of national security information and secure communications systems.
- Develop and establish policy and procedures to protect critical CDC facilities and research while ensuring scientific integrity.
- Work collaboratively with the Division Director to formulate and manage budget requirements in support of national security and scientific exchange activities.
- US Citizenship required.
- Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
- May be subject to a Background/Security Investigation.
- Security clearance level may differ from the position announced when certificates are shared.
- CDC participates in the USCIS Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
- Direct deposit is required.
- One-year probationary period may be required.
- This position may be subject to a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Time in grade (TIG) must be met within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
- Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences, or allied sciences.
- At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level, including experience in global public health national security support, direction, policy, intelligence, and national security.
This position has been designated as mission critical/mission essential. The Federal government, as the largest employer in the Nation, can and should show the way towards achieving drug-free workplaces through programs designed to offer drug users a helping hand, and at the same time demonstrating to drug users and potential drug users that drugs will not be tolerated in the Federal workplace if declared a drug-testing position.
The use of illegal drugs, on or off duty, by Federal employees is inconsistent not only with the law-abiding behavior expected of all citizens, but also with the special trust placed in such employees as servants of the public.
