Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Space Mission Systems Engineer to join our Strategic Space Systems (S3) team in Tempe, Arizona. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing space programs of different sizes, from chip scale to full space missions, for the US government and commercial users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conceptualize, design, develop, build, integrate, and test flight hardware for end customers.
  • Develop space system budgets, including RF link, data, power, mass, delta-V, and propellant budgets.
  • Conduct system analyses and trade studies, including orbits, constellations, accesses, and flight profiles.
  • Lead system requirements definition, flow-down, management, verification, and validation.
  • Develop specifications and statements of work to procure spacecraft buses for various missions.
  • Handle spacecraft bus vendors and learn their platforms as they develop and execute contracts.
  • Work with space flight hardware during space vehicle assembly, integration, and test.
  • Conduct mission operations for flight space vehicles, including planning and executing mission experiments, trending and analyzing space vehicle state-of-health telemetry, and developing operations tools.
Requirements
  • Experience with flight spacecraft/mission delivery or flight space hardware delivery efforts.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in Space/Mission Systems engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in Space Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
  • U.S. Government Position; U.S. Citizenship Required.
  • Active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional or academic experience with Ansys/AGI System Tool Kit (STK).
  • Experience with using Mechanical/Electrical CAD tools.
  • Experience with software/code development using IDEs/text editors.
  • Mathematical modeling and analysis.
  • Experience using Git, SVN, Perforce, or other version control tools.
  • Experience with requirements management and system definition (Cameo, Jama, DOORS, etc.).
  • Space mission contract experience, including proposal development, government contracts, and/or spacecraft bus procurement experience.
  • Detailed understanding of one or more space vehicle subsystems.
Compensation

Salary range: $93,000 - $123,000 annually. Additional cash or stock incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
