Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer Lead to join our team at IASIS Healthcare. As a Security Officer Lead, you will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the Security Department, ensuring a safe environment for all hospital employees, patients, visitors, physicians, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the effective day-to-day operations of the Security team members.
  • Provide coaching and counseling to security employees and complete annual performance appraisals.
  • Ensure security employees are adhering to security procedures through constant evaluation and frequent patrol of hospital property.
  • Function as a Security Officer or dispatch to respond to emergency calls for assistance as back-up support, during peak times, or if short staffed.
  • Ensure compliance with company, state, and regulatory requirements to maintain accreditation and licensure.
  • Review and evaluate security-related reports, surveys, and audits.
  • Protect life and property of all persons on hospital premises. Deescalate all potentially tense situations. Immediately contact local police prior to any physical altercations.
  • Patrool hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, and vandalism. Diligently report any suspicious activity and investigate accidents, incidents, and criminal acts.
  • Secure, lock, and protect hospital buildings and grounds.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Assist hospital staff in de-escalation of tense situations and respond immediately to support the safety of staff.
  • Ensure only authorized persons are admitted onto hospital property. Assist with inquiries made by patients, visitors, or other employees.
  • Maintain current information in daily activity reports/logs, incident reports, lost and found logs, etc.
  • Serve as a member of the emergency response team and respond to codes appropriately.
  • Report all safety and fire hazards, investigate incidents of unusual circumstances, and report all incidents to supervisor.
  • Support all fire/life safety/emergency management drills and education initiatives.
  • Document incident reports in an accurate and timely manner. Follow appropriate investigative procedures.
  • Manage access control at various entrances by ensuring all staff, patients, visitors, and vendors are authorized to gain entry for business/service purposes.
  • Assist with the operation of security systems: CCTV, access control, and incident reporting.
  • Assist in maintaining regulatory requirements, including state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintain a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, staff, and vendors. Act as a liaison with other departments.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
  • Two to five (2-5) years of experience in the field of law enforcement, security operations, or a related field is required. One (1) year of supervisory experience is required. Experience in a health care setting is preferred.
  • A current Basic Life Support (CPR) American Red Cross or American Heart Association Provider certification or a CPI certification is preferred.
  • Must be able to successfully clear a background check, including a criminal search. Use or possession of a firearm and/or other weapons is prohibited.
