Position Overview:
The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a dedicated Podiatrist specializing in rearfoot and ankle surgery. This role offers a comprehensive rewards package and the opportunity to make a significant impact on patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and diagnose patients by reviewing their medical history, conducting physical examinations, and analyzing diagnostic studies including imaging and laboratory tests.
- Administer nonsurgical treatments for various foot, ankle, and lower leg conditions, which may include wound care and the prescription of orthotics to enhance mobility.
- Perform surgical interventions on the foot and ankle, including complex procedures aimed at limb salvage and reconstruction.
- Provide expert consultation on foot and ankle health and treatment options.
- Prescribe necessary medications and treatment plans, and refer patients to specialists when required.
- Deliver care in various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency environments.
- Participate in the on-call rotation and respond to emergency surgical needs.
- Mentor and supervise residents and students during their clinical rotations.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives related to surgical practices.
- Maintain accurate electronic documentation and reporting as mandated by the Medical Center.
- Stay updated with advancements in podiatric medicine through research, journal reading, and attendance at professional conferences.
- Foster collaborative relationships with healthcare professionals across various specialties.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position, operating Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Qualifications:
- Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of residency training in an approved program.
- Current, unrestricted license to practice podiatry in the United States.
- Preferred experience includes training in advanced surgical techniques for rearfoot and ankle reconstruction.

Physical Requirements:
- The role requires the ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods, as well as the capacity to bend, lift, and turn as necessary.

Additional Information:
- Candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and comply with all health regulations as required by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
