Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Wholesale Solutions Specialist to join our team at American Family Insurance. This experienced-level role will provide insurance carrier placement guidance and service to the field, managing a profitable book of business and maintaining strong relationships with the field and partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expertise to facilitate the placement of accounts with admitted and non-admitted carrier partners/brokers or facilitate out-bound marketing of select accounts.
  • Consult with agents on a broad variety of commercial and personal lines coverages.
  • Oversee a book of business within a geographic territory, accountable for placing profitable business.
  • Analyze submissions and make decisions based on individual risk characteristics, exposure analysis, hazard recognition, and control.
  • Utilize underwriting guidelines to ensure compliance with authority levels and state regulation.
  • Review and analyze relevant underwriting information for risks, including applications, inspections, loss control recommendations, loss history, credit checks, and D&B reports.
  • Price business according to insurance company underwriting and pricing guidelines.
  • Handle new and renewal placement process, including rating or submitting to insurance company, negotiating with sales/service team and/or company as necessary, obtaining updated customer information, and preparation of presentation and proposal/quotation materials.
  • Work with internal staff or carriers to resolve questions and issues related to applications or policies issued by our vendors or to obtain guidance on more complex coverages.
  • Assist agents and staff with carrier information and general processes and procedures.
  • Provide field management and agents with vendor product information and support in their sales efforts via an internal sales support team.
  • Maintain positive relationships with brokerage and alliance companies to maintain high customer service standards.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency using PC software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience in account management/insurance placement for commercial and specialty personal lines products.
  • Demonstrated experience placing profitable business.
  • Solid knowledge and application of underwriting concepts and servicing for excess/surplus coverages for all admitted carriers and recognizes when to utilize an Excess and Surplus lines broker.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of brokerage customer service, carrier placement, and policy processing processes, terms, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience using reference materials, reading policy language, and processing rules and procedures.
  • Demonstrated understanding of carrier appetites and market conditions.
  • Demonstrated experience consulting with agents.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Resident state licensing exam(s) for property and casualty producer licenses within 30 days of hire.
  • Property and casualty producer licenses for all operating and/or service states must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
  • Required to maintain current, active license(s) status by continuing education and meeting all state, operating, and regulatory requirements.

This is a flex office/home role, and you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month from the office. Candidates should reside within approximately 35-50 miles of one of the following office locations: Madison, WI 53783; Boston, MA 02110; Denver, CO 80112; Eden Prairie, MN 55343; Keene, NH 03431; St. Joseph, MO 64507; Phoenix, AZ 85034.
