Job Summary

The American Sign Language Instructor will teach classes in Grades 9-12, sharing in the responsibilities of the total education program. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in American Sign Language and be able to adapt their teaching techniques to meet the needs of students with varying skill levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in American Sign Language, following Board of Education approved course descriptions.
  • Develop and implement daily lesson plans, incorporating a variety of instructional techniques and materials.
  • Evaluate pupil progress and submit reports, providing individual and small-group instruction as needed.
  • Supervise drills and instruct students in emergency procedures.
  • Work cooperatively with staff members to establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior.
  • Encourage independent and original thought in students.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, the following documents are required:

  • Copy of Single Subject Foreign Language: American Sign Language Credential
  • CBEST Card
  • English Language Learners Authorization

A letter of intent, resume, and three letters of recommendation are recommended. Current certificated employees should include their most recent evaluation.
