Sterile Processing Technician III Job Description

Boston Children's Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Technician III to join our team. As a key member of our Sterile Processing department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Instrumentation and Equipment Management: Restock OR surgical core with sterilized instrumentation, transport carts of instrumentation or medical materials, and maintain departmental logs.
  • Cleaning and Decontamination: Receive, sort, clean, and decontaminate soiled reusable instruments, equipment, and materials, and operate cleaning and decontamination equipment.
  • Sterilization and Preparation: Inspect, prepare, and sterilize surgical instruments and materials, and assemble trays and packets of instruments and medical supplies.
  • Customer Service and Communication: Answer departmental telephones, respond to customer requests, and resolve problems as needed.
Requirements:
  • Certification: Certification of Sterile/Central Processing is strongly preferred.
  • Education: A high school degree or GED equivalent is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of three years of experience in Sterile Processing/Central Processing is required, including previous experience with Endoscopes.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of instrumentation and power surgical instruments, strong customer service and communication skills, and strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
