Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Probation Officer to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a Probation Officer, you will be responsible for supervising a specialized caseload of high-risk inmates and probationers, performing investigations, casework, and administrative services.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise a caseload of high-risk inmates and probationers, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their rehabilitation goals.
- Conduct investigations and gather information to inform case decisions and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Collaborate with probationers, district, and community resources to develop and manage treatment plans.
- Make home and community contacts to monitor probationer progress and provide support as needed.
- Prepare reports and provide recommendations to the court and attorney.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license.
- Experience working with diverse groups of inmates or probationers, co-workers, and community agencies in a criminal justice and/or human services setting.
- Experience providing case management, counseling, and documenting case activities in a fast-paced setting.
- Experience gathering information, creating, reviewing, and presenting reports to official or administrative entities.
- Experience with direct delivery of human services, including experience related to probation and parole practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge in Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, Sociology/Social Work, Criminal Justice, or a related human services field.
- Awareness of Evidence Based Practices and Reentry initiatives.
- Experience with planning and directing projects and training others.
