Job Overview

Role Responsibilities

The Certified Nursing Assistant operates under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, delivering various services tailored to meet the personal needs of patients and enhance their comfort. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing personal care as assigned, ensuring timely responses to patient requests.
  • Maintaining patient safety and properly utilizing equipment such as foot stools and side rails.
  • Administering personal hygiene tasks, including bathing, oral care, and changing bed linens.
  • Assisting patients with dressing and undressing as required.
  • Supporting patients during meals and monitoring their nutritional intake.
  • Measuring and documenting vital signs such as temperature, pulse, and blood pressure as directed.
  • Observing and reporting any changes in the patient's condition to the supervising Registered Nurse.
  • Facilitating patient mobility and exercise as instructed by healthcare professionals.
  • Providing assistance with light housekeeping tasks as needed.
  • Engaging in simple therapeutic exercises as part of care plans.
  • Offering respite care for patients and their families when appropriate.
  • Ensuring the patient's living area is kept clean and organized.
  • Adhering to established documentation and care standards.
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrating respect for the patient’s environment and personal needs.
  • Being available for on-call duties as assigned.
  • Meeting state training requirements.
Qualifications
  • Completion of a state-approved training program and competency evaluation.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
  • Preferred experience in home health or hospice settings.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to read, follow instructions, and document care accurately.
  • Self-motivated with the capacity to work independently.
  • Empathetic towards the needs of patients.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • Exhibiting patience, tact, and maintaining good personal hygiene.
  • Possessing a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
Work Environment
  • Community-based home settings.
