Position Overview

Join United Global Technologies as a Senior Atmospheric Safety Engineer, focusing on the critical analysis of accident scenarios involving atmospheric dispersion. This role requires expertise in nuclear safety calculations and documentation to support various facilities.


Key Responsibilities

As a vital member of the Nuclear & Criticality Safety Engineering (N&CSE) team, you will:

  • Conduct advanced atmospheric transport and dispersion analyses for radiological and toxic chemical release evaluations.
  • Provide analytical support to the team, particularly in software quality assurance and atmospheric modeling.
  • Utilize software tools such as MACCS2 and GENII for simulations, with additional experience in AXAIR being advantageous.
  • Develop comprehensive accident analyses for both liquid and solid waste radiological release events, considering various internal and external scenarios.
  • Ensure compliance with nuclear safety documentation requirements and identify applicable controls.

Qualifications

Education:
Applicants should possess a degree in Engineering or Science. A PhD in a relevant discipline with 10 years of experience, an MS degree with 12 years of experience, or a BS degree with 20 years of experience is required.

Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of five years of experience in providing nuclear safety support within the Department of Energy (DOE) complex. Proficiency in implementing standards such as 10 CFR 830 and related guidelines is essential.

Significant experience with atmospheric dispersion modeling software is crucial.


Preferred Skills

Experience with MACCS2, CFAST, ALOHA, and GENII is highly desirable. Familiarity with source term calculations and additional modeling software (e.g., AXAIR) is a plus. Previous experience in similar roles is beneficial.


Work Environment

This position is 100% onsite. Candidates should be local or willing to relocate at their own expense.
