Role Summary
As a Pharmacy Support Specialist, you will engage in a range of responsibilities under the guidance of licensed pharmacists.
Your role will encompass:
- Accurate preparation, delivery, and distribution of medications to designated care areas, adhering to established protocols and maintaining necessary documentation.
- Utilization of technology to ensure safe and efficient medication management.
- Effective use of electronic medical records to enhance patient care.
- Preparation of compounded sterile products in compliance with best practices and regulatory standards.
- Assistance in medication reconciliation processes, including patient screening and documentation.
- Clear communication with healthcare team members and patients, actively participating in initiatives to improve patient care.
- Inventory management and control.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the California State Board of Pharmacy.
- Proficiency in pharmacy calculations, including ratios and percentages.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to navigate software applications and operate relevant technology.
- Knowledge of State and Federal regulations applicable to pharmacy practice.
- Previous experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
