About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nursing Professional Development Generalist at UVA Health, a world-class Magnet Recognized academic medical center and health system with a level 1 trauma center. As a key member of our nursing team, you will play a vital role in advancing the healthcare practice of learners and contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Practice Relationship-based Care principles in support of the PNSO Care Delivery System
  • Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the PNSO Practice Model by role modeling the elements of innovation, quality achievement, lifelong learning, leadership, and expert caring
  • Use an interdisciplinary approach to patient care across the continuum of care
  • Manage care and implement treatment plans at a highly developed skill level in collaboration with patients, their families, physicians, and other members of the health care team
  • Continuously assess practice gaps in the care delivery setting to identify learning needs
  • Identify desired outcomes of the educational plan
  • Establish an achievable plan that prescribes strategies, alternatives, and resources to achieve expected educational outcomes
  • Coordinate and implement the identified education plan
  • Facilitate positive learning and practice environments
  • Evaluate progress toward attainment of desired outcomes
  • Integrate ethics in all areas of practice
  • Maintain current knowledge and competency in nursing and nursing professional development
  • Strive to promote and practice evidence-based practice in delivery of nursing care and educational activities
  • Use principles of Lean Methodology and Quality Improvement in nursing care delivery and educational design
  • Act as a change agent in all settings
  • Provide leadership in the professional practice setting
  • Collaborate with the interprofessional team, leaders, stakeholders, and others to facilitate positive outcomes
  • Evaluate personal practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines in all settings
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or completion of Bachelor of Science in Nursing within nine months of hire
  • Minimum of three (3) years clinical experience and demonstrated leadership activities, including certification in a nursing specialty area
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required
