Nursing Professional Development Specialists at the University of Virginia play a vital role in the centralized orientation, continuing education, professional development, and mandatory training of the UVA Health System nursing staff.

Key responsibilities include assessing needs, designing, marketing, delivering, and evaluating learning programs. Additionally, they serve as Learning Facilitators, Change Agents, Mentors, Leaders, Champions for Scientific Inquiry, and Advocates for NPD Specialty.

Other duties may be assigned, but the core focus remains on supporting the growth and development of nursing staff.

Position Compensation Range:

$74,119,849.60 Annual

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

NPDS and other departments:

Education:

Graduate of accredited Nursing program required. Master's Degree required within 1 year of hire. Master's in Nursing or Master's in Education strongly preferred.

Experience:

3 years clinical nursing experience required. 2 years educational experience preferred.

Licensure:

Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. Certification in an associated specialty is expected within 2-3 years upon reaching eligibility requirement.

Operating Room Only:

Education:

Graduate of accredited Nursing program required. Master's Degree required within 1 year of hire. Master's in Nursing or Master's in Education strongly preferred.

Experience:

4 years OR Nurse experience; 2 years OR Nurse Educator experience preferred.

Licensure:

CNOR certification required. Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in Commonwealth of Virginia required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
