Position Overview:

The Braveheart Program at Children's Village focuses on providing essential support to youth and young adults currently engaged with the child welfare system. This initiative is designed to empower participants who may have navigated various systems, including Juvenile Justice, Special Education, and Mental Health services.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Lead Program Facilitator in managing a Youth Advisory Council and conducting Motivational Meetings aimed at fostering engagement among campus youth.
  • Utilize personal experiences and training to guide young adults in understanding and accessing available resources.
  • Encourage the development of positive peer relationships and resilience while addressing systemic challenges within child welfare and related systems.

Qualifications:

Candidates should possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, though personal experience within the Child Welfare or Juvenile Justice systems is essential. Familiarity with educational, employment, and housing resources in the local area is highly beneficial.

Skills Required:

  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to facilitate group discussions.
  • Experience navigating public transportation systems.
  • A deep understanding of cultural and racial issues affecting adolescents, particularly those from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-directed.
  • Willingness to engage in public speaking and training sessions.
  • Capability to maintain accurate records of youth participation.

Work Schedule: 5 hours per week
