Position Overview:

As a Junior Environmental Consultant at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you will play a crucial role in various environmental compliance monitoring and assessment initiatives. Your main duties will involve executing field operations, which include: leading and assisting in sampling activities for groundwater, surface water, sediment, air, and soil monitoring projects; overseeing soil boring and bedrock coring tasks; conducting field assessments of various media for signs of environmental impact; and documenting the installation of groundwater monitoring wells and piezometers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather, analyze, and convert raw data into usable formats for engineering and scientific project documentation, including reports, plans, specifications, permits, and cost estimates.
  • Engage in fieldwork as required to fulfill tasks assigned by project leadership.
  • Coordinate assigned responsibilities with team members to ensure successful completion of specific project tasks and report progress to project leaders.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of accepted engineering practices, scientific principles, regulatory frameworks, and field standards in executing design work under supervision.
  • Contribute to the exploration of innovative techniques and methods that could enhance the Company’s operational efficiency and incorporate advanced applications to achieve project objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Approximately 0 - 2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred but not required).
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Demonstrated technical competency and skills in scientific judgment and mathematical applications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members as well as independently.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Willingness to participate in fieldwork.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Willingness to pursue training and certifications in specialized areas such as health and safety, hazardous materials inspection, sample collection techniques, and environmental site assessments.
  • Current 40-hour Hazwoper training is preferred but not mandatory.
