Job Title: Community Health Nursing Specialist

About the Role: The State of Virginia is seeking a skilled Community Health Nursing Specialist to provide professional nursing care to patients in various settings. This role requires licensure as a RN in Virginia or a compact state, BLS certification, and adherence to safety policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in clinics, homes, schools, and other community settings.
  • Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, lab tests, and develop individualized care plans.
  • Administer medication and participate in public health emergencies and community health assessments.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Requirements:

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Virginia or a compact state.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Adherence to safety policies and protocols.
  • Knowledge of public health concepts and principles of public health nursing.
  • Basic nursing science and interviewing and counseling techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a public health setting or related to disease prevention and health promotion.
  • Addition studies in health promotion or public health.

Working Conditions:

  • This position may require travel and flexible scheduling, including weekend or evening hours.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR is required.

Salary and Benefits:

  • The annual salary for this position is approximately $64,000 - $85,000 depending on experience.
  • The State of Virginia offers a competitive benefits package, including 12 paid holidays, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, and retirement plans.
