Job Title: Cook

At Personal Touch Food Service Inc, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Cook to join our team. As a Cook, you will be responsible for establishing and overseeing the kitchen workflow to ensure that meals are prepared efficiently and effectively.

The ideal candidate will have two to four years of cooking experience in the food service field, with a minimum of one year in a supervisory capacity. You will be knowledgeable about foodstuffs and have experience with food production. Additionally, you must possess basic math skills to calculate production and recipes as required for guest counts.

The successful candidate will be able to work at a moderate to fast pace and will be physically able to perform the duties of the job, which include occasional sitting, constant standing, frequent walking, frequent bending, and frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.

The working conditions will include occasional exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity or extremes thereof, and occasional work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level will be moderate.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and oversee the kitchen workflow to ensure efficient and effective meal preparation.
  • Plan and execute overall food preparation, including defining required steps and delegating responsibilities to kitchen staff.
  • Sample, smell, and evaluate food to ensure conformance to recipes and standards of taste and appearance.
  • Maintain an awareness of the physical location and productivity of all kitchen staff throughout their shift.
  • Ensure appropriate supply levels and maintain inventory control, including ordering food and supplies and effectively utilizing food surplus to capitalize on investments made and control costs.
  • Complete and maintain accurate daily production records and inventory files.
  • Monitor all elements of the kitchen environment, including storage temperature of all food products, temperature of water in dish machine, and cooler and freezer temperature on a daily basis.
  • Maintain environmental records as necessary.
  • Responsible for sanitary conditions in all work areas that meet or exceed health department requirements.
  • At the end of shift, check the entire facility for cleanliness of physical plant and all equipment, and verify that all security measures are in place to guard against theft.
Requirements:
