Occupational Health and Safety Professional

We are seeking a highly skilled Safety and Occupational Health Specialist to join our team at Commander, Navy Installations. As a key member of our safety and occupational health office, you will play a critical role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for our employees.
Key Responsibilities- Investigate workplace incidents and accidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Develop and implement safety and occupational health programs to minimize the risk of injury and illness.
- Collaborate with management and employees to promote a culture of safety and health.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of one year of specialized experience in safety and occupational health, including experience in investigating workplace incidents and conducting risk assessments.
- Strong knowledge of safety and occupational health laws and regulations, including OSHA and other relevant standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
- Ability to analyze data and develop effective solutions to safety and health problems.
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field, such as occupational health or safety engineering. Alternatively, you may qualify with a combination of education and experience that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of the position.
