Job Overview

Position Title: Production Planning Coordinator

Department: Production/Operations

Reports to: Production Control/Purchasing Manager

Role Summary:

The Production Planning Coordinator is tasked with developing daily operational schedules for production activities. This role focuses on ensuring that production tasks are organized efficiently while adhering to customer timelines. The position operates with a degree of autonomy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate commitment to organizational values, policies, and standards.
  • Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with various team leaders, team members, and key stakeholders across departments such as Customer Service and IT.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and Job Safety Practices.
  • Coordinate and communicate the effective execution of production schedules to fulfill customer requirements and inventory goals.
  • Promptly address and escalate any challenges or deficiencies that may negatively affect manufacturing, shipping, or customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee and coordinate the procurement of raw materials and supplies in partnership with the Purchasing department.
  • Ensure a tidy and systematic workspace for the efficient execution of tasks, including management of job tickets and related documentation.
  • Supervise the entry of daily production data into the MRP software, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain a tracking system for production jobs and related orders.
  • Analyze and report on production metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production control processes.
  • Lead and participate in relevant meetings.
  • Prepare and present regular updates on production schedules and performance metrics.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:

  • A relevant 2-year degree or 5 years of scheduling experience in a manufacturing context.
  • Knowledge of printing and label production processes.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks with competing demands.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Capable of learning and utilizing MRP/ERP software.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and the capacity to influence others.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational capabilities.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across various business functions.
  • Flexibility to work standard hours with the possibility of additional shifts as needed.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Experience with Label Traxx and EPS-Radius is advantageous.
