Are you an exceptionally organized and detail-focused professional with a strong interest in production planning? Our organization is looking for a Production Planning Specialist to become a valuable member of our team. In this role, you will be tasked with developing and maintaining the production schedule, ensuring alignment with the lead times of each operation to meet shipping deadlines as dictated by sales forecasts or customer orders. You will play a crucial role in guaranteeing that the production department is equipped with all necessary raw materials to execute the production schedule effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate distribution and production capabilities while performing calculations to ensure the production schedule is feasible. Strategically plan and schedule operations on the production floor according to routing sequences and lead times. Revise shipping schedules based on job progress and availability of manufactured and purchased components. Initiate job orders for the shop floor and monitor inventory usage. Compile production reports detailing orders, inventory levels, and weekly and monthly shipment forecasts. Collaborate with production supervisors to assess the status of schedules and projects. Ensure that the production plan aligns with sales objectives and inventory targets (including lead times, lot sizes, safety stock, etc.); adjustments to production schedules may be necessary to meet customer expectations. Engage in department-specific projects related to production. Communicate any concerns regarding manufacturing performance as needed. Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.Qualifications for Success
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years' experience in production planning, scheduling, and inventory management, or 7 years' equivalent experience. Strong communication skills with the ability to present information and respond to inquiries from management, colleagues, and clients. Excellent analytical abilities, process-oriented mindset, and capacity to develop actionable plans. Proficient in identifying issues and implementing corrective/preventative measures while thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and email applications; prior experience with SAP is highly advantageous. Demonstrated adaptability to shifting priorities, deadlines, demands, and assignments as required.
